John Tebenham with a burnout that completely blocked your reporter's view, thanks JT. We are now on hold for some minor precipitation.
The session continued after a second massive JT burnout, JT up from 45 to 35 Dave Read up to #40 so neither in the show. Leigh Morris up from #26 to #13, Tom Kaye up from #39 to #13 bumping out Marc Huxley as Brett Featherstone up from #32 to #22, Warren Watts #34 broke out so not in the show, Andre Nahler 10.056/129.80 as Dan Fulton remained in #31. Neill Watkins #43 with 0.0001 RT, well done Neill but only up to #35. Darren Law up a spot from #45 to #44 and Ronnie Mercer up from #23 to #13, Nick Mugridge remained in #36, Marc Huxley up from #33 to #27 and bumps Wayne Hiscock.

Funny Car Cup qualifying session 3
Kevin Kent 4.2419/264.21 (0.9111 60ft and 3.373/253.70 to the eighth, 1/100s off the European record) v Patrik Pers shut off after burnout, the engine leaning out, and was pushed back. John Smith said the team worked late last night and are going for the championship, which will need Kevin to qualify #1 and win the event. Kevin, without parachutes, went off the end of the track into the field. Patrik Pers said "We are trying our best. We didn't know what was going on, heard a funny boom and shut it off straight away".
Jason Phelps v Steve Ashdown, no increase in revs for Steve who then had his body up for a few moments whilst Jason waited patiently. Jason went down the track whilst Steve's car went up on the tyres. Both received red lights but no times recorded.

Funny Car Cup qualifying session 2 re-run

Good morning and welcome to day 3 of our coverage from Santa Pod Raceway of the 2022 FIA/FIM-E European Finals. The weather is bright, with sun behind race control and cloud overhead but dry, temperatures of 15C forecast high of 19C and wind 9 mph from the north west. We are hopeful that conditions will be improved as yesterday proved as challenging weather wise as Thursday's was emotionally. We should thank Santa Pod's track staff for tirelessly clearing rain as quickly as possible, the shut down area was a particular issue as it suffered flooding.
We did get one full session of Pro qualifying in yesterday and some spectacularly quick runs were made. If Super Street Bike ends as an eight bike field the bump spot of 7.22 will be the quickest ever with four bikes in the 6.8s or quicker. We also had a good start to Pro Modified with Jan Ericsson back in the 5.8s and Roger Johansson making his best pass for some time with his new converter setup at 5.94s. Rickard Gustafsson and Neil Midgley were the stars in Top Fuel Bike and Marcus Christiansen in Super Twin. The nitro classes put on a great show even if no records were broken, and the sportsman racers chipped away at their indexes, dial-ins and reaction times with incredibly small margins separating them.
Today's plan is for two full qualifying sessions, plus held over Q2 from FIM-E bikes, and first round of eliminations of Super Pro ET, Pro ET and Junior Dragster. With so much to catch up on it will undoubtedly be a packed day. But first we have the re-run of Funny Car Cup racer Kevin Kent's qualifying pass from yesterday evening when the timing system failed and Kevin did not get a green.
