Your Reporter's diagnosis last night of a head gasket was exactly wrong, what actually happened was that the block split in two. 1.0321 to sixty, motor was groaning and cylinders started to go out and Rene shut it off before the eighth 4.7233/109.55. Team-mates Stu and Dale side-by-side. Stu to sixty in 1.0984, Dale in 1.1139, Stu's bike started to move towards the centre line at the eighth 4.4131/160.59, Dale there in 4.5087/153.99. 20:40 FIM Supertwin qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Marc van den Boer 11.6634/132.84, Allan Davies 7.3213/160.79; Neil Midgley 6.7271/158.59 bye; Martijn de Haas 7.3988/145.77 bye; Another arrow-straight pass for Allan, 1.2115 to sixty and 4.6854/161.92 at the eighth. Shut it off before the stripe so plenty more to come yet. Nice run for Midgo, 1.0600 to sixty, 4.1488/176.25 at the eighth then shut off at about 1000 feet. Liam's motor would not start and he was pushed away. Dnucan's tyres stood up and smoked at the hit, a pedal and the same happened again, gave it up. Antti to sixty in 0.8585, Anita in 0.8492. Antti's tyres shook and he shut off before 330 feet 3.1757, Anita's tyres stuck and she got to 330 in 2.2063 and the eighth in 3.1608/264.67, off that gas at the eighth. 20:10 FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Robin Norén 6.6878/207.23, Michael Malmgren 19.2252/41.25; Stefan Ernryd 9.8178/92.37, Bengt Ljungdahl 7.5368/131.01 0.9954 to sixty for Robin, Michael with instant shake and off it by sixty 1.4336. Robin to the eighth in 4.2997/164.12, within 0.0003 of his previous best. 0.9781 to sixty for Stefan and was already heading for the guardrail then, shut it off. 0.9872 to sixty for Bengt, 4.3238/146.96 at the eighth then the car made a hard step right and Bengt got off the gas. However the points accrued from this run sealed Bengt's 2018 FIA European Pro Stock Championship, well done Bengt and team! Qualifying after this session:

Mick to sixty in 1.2115 Peter in 1.0539, looked like some shake for Peter. Peter to the eighth in 4.5662/153.04, Mick on and off the throttle before the eighth 5.4761/109.35 and then off it altogether after. Peter creeping up on it, crew looked very happy and Mick will be pleased to get a time on the board. No reverse for Wayne after his burnout, drove down the track and took the emergency exit. Mats took the bye, 0.9544 to sixty, shake which he drove through, 3.9915/181.96 at the eighth, weaving left and right but Mats held on to it, a pedal just before the stripe. Jean to sixty in 1.0110, flames from the exhausts very evident, Bobby there in 1.0082 and had an appreciable lead at the eighth 4.0584/180.30 going straight whilst Jean's car moved around its lane some 4.4220/159.54. Bobby shut it off before the stripe so more to come yet. Eurodragster.com sponsor Jon straight into stage, not a deliberate act of course just shows how difficult it is to edge turbo cars in. Jon to sixty in 1.1348, Norbret in 0.9632 with bad shake heading left, feathered the throttle. Jon looked ot be going great guns and accelerating hard but vapour started to issue from the car about 250 feet quickly getting thicker and eventually the car disappeared from view by the eighth 4.5248/148.58 ahead of Norbert's 4.8722/125.25 still feathering the throttle and eventually off it. A long trail of fluid in Jon's lane, from 300 feet way down the shutdown area, clean-up called. During clean-up Jimmy Ålund returned to the pits. On the restart a 250-foot burnout for Kim. Marcus to sixty in 1.0649, Kim in 1.0420, Marcus looked to have the front end up and it shook when it came down, two pedals and off it before the eighth 5.8427/83.80. Kim on a charge at the eighth 3.9849/160.22 and on it all the way. Jan to sixty in 0.9960, Michel quicker to sxty at 0.9853, Michel's car headed for the centre line and I think there was a brief pedal there whilst Jan's car drifted towards the guardrail but he stayed with it, right next t othe rail all the way from the eighth 3.9294/190.45 to Michel's 3.9928/178.86. Jonny to sixty in 0.9339, Timo in 0.9174 with visible shake. Timo with the quicker eighth 3.4864/266.65 to Jonny's 3.6240/214.85, looked like a couple of candles fading out for Jonny after 1000 feet but a decent speed. Dennis to sixty in 0.9251 with shake, Sandrooo to 0.9266 with shake, both pedalled simultaneously and both sets of tyres hooked up. 19:10 Comp Eliminator eliminations round 1 Chris Orthodoxou a no-show for his race with Eurodragster.com sponsor Chris Isaacs who put in a stormer,
nice one Chris, Spencer and team! Dirk Peiler a no-show for his race with Tim Mugridge. Dirk's bonnet
and windows stoved in on his last run yesterday so it's back to base for strenghtening work. Dirk told us
however that he was very happy with the progress he had made in so few full passes. Tim hit shake, a pedal
then off it. Paul Brooks a no-show for his race with Andy Hone. Belinda Bull a no-show for her race with
Bernd Rudolf whom, to be honest, we were not expecting to see after hitting the guardrail earlier. Jens
Zimmermann close to the guardrail in his race with Robin Orthodoxou, shut it off. Great launch for Nick
Davies and going great guns but then the Firebird started to move left and right and Nick backed off after
we saw the left side of the car at the eighth.

Picture-perfect pass for Fil. 0.9892 to sixty, fotnt wheel touched down about 250 feet out, 3.8252/199.71 at the eighth, on the gas all the way. Improvemnt for Eric too, 1.1649 to sixty, 4.5139/162.87 at the eighth, drifting towards the centre line at the top end. Safety crews went to the end of the track, word came back that Fil had had a tumble at the top end but that he is OK and that the bike has suffered only minor damage. Qualifying after this session:

16:45 Fuel Funny Car qualifying session 3 (left lane first) Kevin Chapman shut off, bye; Steve Ashdown broke, Kevin Kent 4.3571/283.32 bye; Jason Phelps 7.6405/95.45 bye Kevin C's team spent a lot of yesterday changing motors. Fired up, consternation around the left side of the motor and shut off. Towed back to the pits. Steve's FC kept rolling after the burnout, looked from here as if the idle was high and he was standing on the brakes to try to stop it. Stopped past the eight, crew sprinted to help and adjusted the idle but no reverse and had to drive pu the track and take the emergency exit. Kevin K took the bye, great pass! 0.9516 to sixty, 2.4579 to 330 feet, blackstriping all the way, 3.4969/247.51 at the eighth. Drove it way past the thousand, puff of smoke in the shutdown area, chutes took a while to deploy but all turned out OK. Kevin K on a European speed record, well done Kevin, Bodie and team! Birgitte then returned to the pits without running. Jason to 0.9549 to sixty with tyres shaking, off the gas then two stabs off the throttle and gave it up. Qualifying after this session:
16:30 FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 3 (left lane first) Urs Erbacher 4.2055/257.94 bye; Liam Jones 9.8722/67.01, Duncan Micallef 9.2203/72.53; Stig Neergaard 4.3920/234.03, Antti Horto 9.3920/66.97; Anita Mäkelä 3.8706/297.02, Jndia Erbacher 11.9607/75.43 Urs to sixty in 0.8560, 330 feet in 2.2623, header flames started to turn green on the left and then flame from the motor, 3.3026/244.14 at the eighth and a ball of flame and a sustained fire from the motor which stayed running albeit grudgingly so I am guessing head gasket. Top end safety crews chased Urs down. Track crew picking up pieces in the second half and the sweeper called to the top end. 0.8732 to sixty for Liam, 0.8412 for Duncan, terrible shake for both and both off the gas about seventy feet out. Stig to sixty in 0.8843, Antti in 0.8601, both hit shake, Antti gave it up. Stig pedalled and got back on it and the tyres hooked up, got to the eighth in 3.4619/252.06 then several parts came off the car, the guess from here is bug catcher. Jndia's tyres up in smoke, off the gas. Anita to sixty in 0.8385 with wheels up, 330 feet in 2.1756, storming eighth in 30.950/280.26, looked to have cylinders out past the eighth, a bang past the eighth and some pieces came off the car, maybe broken belt. Anita sets a new European ET record of 3.870 backed up by her 3.894, well done Anita, Tommi and team! Turns out that I was right about the belt since it landed in front of our own Kirstie and has been autographed by Anita. Qualifying after this session:

Robin to sixty in 0.9873, the eighth in 4.2981/163.42. Improvement for Robin but stayed in place. Bengt to sixty in 0.9911, Stefan in 1.0051 with mild shake, Bengt with a visible lead at the eighth 4.2457/165.93 to Stefan's 4.2960/164.01. Peter's motor sounded to be misfiring in the burnout, meanwhile Mick made it to the bleach box and his motor stopped. Peter took the bye, 1,0823 to sixty with visible shake, a long time between gear shifts, 4.8558/140.75 at the eighth, car settled down in the second half. Mick then towed back to the pits. Fantastic run for Michel! 0.9711 to sixty with little if any shake, Jean's motor looked to be labouring past sixty 1,1383, Michel to the eighth in a storming 3.8996/188.85, Jean in 4.6449/160.21 drifting for the centre line but stayed on the gas all the way. New PB for Michel, well done Michel and team! Norbert to sixty in 0.9741, Eurodragster.com sponsor Jon in 1.0857 with shake just passing the Tree, Norbert drifting towards the centre line towards the eighth 4.0332/180.55, Jon there in 4.4649. Kim to sixty in 1.0470 with mild shake, Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy in 1.0589 with shake through which he tried to drive, the Camaro suddenly uncorked, looked to jump all four wheels off the track with shake, turned right, Andy had his hands full keeping it off the wall. Kim to sixty in 3.9646/192.81, arrow-straight in the second eighth. Kev;s car showing little if any evidence of yesterday;s field trip. Kev to sixty in 0.9762, Jan in a,0042 with high-frequency shale pssing the Tree, Jan with the quicker eighth 3.9033/192.65 to Kev's 3.9276/183.47 drifting left but stayed with it. Smoke from Kev's motor in the shutdown area, track checked and all OK. New PB for Jan, well done Jan and team! Roger's motor spluttered at the start of the burnout but cleared up. Jimmy to sixty in 0.9642, Roger in 0.9743, Roger with the better eighth 3.8209/197.61 to Jimmy's 3.8368/196.24. Roger looked to shut it off a touch early but that was the quickest-ever side-by-side Pro Mod pair in Europe, well done both! Qualifying after this session:
15:30 FIA Top Methanol qualifying session 3 (left lane first) Sandro Bellio 5.5021/261.16, Jonny Lagg 5.6865/251.80; Timo Habermann 5.7440/236.53, Dennis Habermann 5.2703/271.44 Sandro with the quicker sixty 0.9442 to Jonny's 0.9460, looked like very slight shake for Jonny which he drove through. Sandrooo with a visible lead at the eighth 3.6363/210.92 to Jonny's 3.7846/206.65. Sandro's FC drifted slightly left but he stayed with it, Jonny's tyres blackstriping to 1000 feet or so. Dennis to sixty in 0.8909, Timo in 0.9299 with tyres flapping and a pedal about 100 feet out, Dennis storming at the eighth 3.4709/219.71 to Timo's 3.7737/198.85 having lost ET to the shake. 15:20 Comp Eliminator qualifying session 5 250-foot burnout by Nick Davies in the ICE Automotive Pro Mod in the first pair, Nick and Rob's car almost as
quiet as the Isaacs and Tramm Pro Mod. Fantastic run for Fred, must be in PB territory, well done Fred and team!
In the other lane Nick had iddues getting it in stage and up on the revs, took another go at it, tyres were turning
and mved left about 400 feet out, shut it off. Next pair and Bernd Rudolph left the line seemingly with the front
wheels locked, Mustang headed right and sideswiped the guardrail. Stopped just before the eighth, retrieval called.
0.0036 RT for Robin Sattler, in the other lane Jens Zimmermann's Jaguar was fishtailing more and more seriously
and eventually got off the gas. Next pair and a puff of smoke from Paul Brooks' motor right on the stripe,
track checked and all OK.

first in the queue. Violent right move by Nick Good's dragster after a 156.81 mph eighth but had it stopped
before the emergency exit, it looked from here as if Nick had his hands full there for a moment. I am guessing
that something broke rather than fluid dropped. Word later came back via Kirstie that Nick's steering broke.
The top end crew did an excellent job of getting Nick off the
track with the second pair ready to stage but then Martyn Jones shut off, and Mark Bailey was signalled to shut
off. I suspect that Syd was worried about overheating but either way he was then towed back to the pits and Mark
took a bye. Ashley Bell a no-show for his race with Brian Pateman. Al Didwell a no-show for his race with John
Przybyl. Mathijs Kraetzer and Brad Jackson shut off as the combination of two parachutes and the headwind stopped

The wind is not strong but it has changed direction and is now blowing directly up the track rather than at a slight angle as it was yesterday.
